Our Commitment to Accessibility

U Dry Eye Institute (UDEI) is committed to providing an accessible website and services for all patients, visitors, and members of our community. As part of U Vision Group, we strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

We believe that every patient deserves equal access to information about their eye health and the services available to them, regardless of ability.

What We Are Doing

  • Providing alternative text descriptions for images
  • Ensuring sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds
  • Supporting keyboard navigation throughout the site
  • Using clear, plain language to describe conditions and treatments
  • Ensuring forms and interactive elements are accessible to assistive technologies
  • Regularly reviewing and improving our website’s accessibility

Accessible Facilities

Our clinic locations across the Greater Toronto Area are designed to accommodate patients with disabilities. Accessible features include wheelchair-accessible entrances, examination rooms equipped for patients with mobility challenges, and staff trained in providing assistance to patients with diverse needs.

Applicable Legislation

  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) — Ontario legislation establishing accessibility standards across multiple sectors including healthcare.
  • Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) — Requires organizations to make their websites and web content conform to WCAG 2.0 Level AA. U Dry Eye Institute targets the more current WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard.
  • Ontario Human Rights Code — Protects the right of persons with disabilities to equal treatment with respect to services, goods, and facilities.
